One-off samples answer one-off questions. The obligations most sites actually carry — a monitored environment, a water system, an instrument register — are standing ones, and a programme is how standing obligations get standing evidence.
What a programme is
A written plan, agreed with you once, that says what gets sampled or calibrated, where, and on what rota. Because the plan is fixed, every result lands next to the same point’s previous results rather than next to nothing — and a creeping trend becomes visible while it is still a trend, not an incident.
Who runs one
Sites whose evidence has to exist on a schedule rather than on demand: production environments monitored for pathogens, cleaning verified behind every release, water systems tested through the year, shelf-life studies run to a plan, and instrument registers kept in calibration before anything falls due.
How it relates to the disciplines
A programme is not a different laboratory. The swabs, waters and instruments it collects go to the same testing lanes and calibration disciplines listed on this site, and come back on the same reports. The programme is the schedule, the fixed points and the trending wrapped around that work — the discipline pages say what a result means, the programme keeps the results coming.

What a programme includes
Every programme, whatever the discipline behind it, carries the same four commitments.
Agreed sampling points
Points and instruments are agreed at the start and then fixed, so a result can be compared to the same point last time rather than to an average of everywhere.
Agreed intervals
The rota is set at scoping to match the risk and the obligation, then kept. Sampling happens because the plan says so, not because someone remembered.
Results trended over time
Reported per point and per date, with the trend visible rather than buried — drift shows up as drift, before it becomes a failed result.
A rate held for the term
Quoted per site after a scoping call, then held for the full term. Points or instruments added during the term are covered at the same rates.
